Erin Morris
Cloud County Community College

As a member of the
Thunderbird basketball team and a Student Senate representative, Erin Morris
had a busy schedule her freshman year at Cloud County Community College. But a
full agenda is nothing new to Morris.
At Holton High School she started her athletic
career as a four-sport athlete, for two years doubling up in the spring by
competing in both track and softball. Eventually she became all-Big Seven in
three sports—volleyball, basketball, and softball.
During her freshman season at Cloud County,
Morris, a 5-8 guard, played in 24 games and averaged 1.25 points. Her strength,
according to CCCC coach Brett Erkenbrack, is her “good, aggressive defense.”
He’s called her one of the hardest workers on the team.
Morris says she learned to play hard from
her sister (Katie, a Lady Thunderbird from 1993 to 1995). She also receives
inspiration from another family member. “I have a cousin who is the same age as
me who’s handicapped,” Morris said. “She loves basketball and she’d give
anything to play. I know to be thankful to be able to.” So, “no whining” about
such things as hard practices has been a long-standing Morris rule.
Apparently maintaining a busy schedule is another. Following a successful campaign to win re-election to the Student Senate, a full agenda continues to be a Morris policy. —Story by www.studentprofileservices.com Fall 2002
