During her freshman season Cloud County Community College basketball star Lynsie Tischhauser gave opponents a wide variety of headaches on her way to third team all-Jayhawk Conference West honors.
The 6-0 Thunderbird forward could score from inside, or she could pop outside and hit shots in the 16-foot range. In addition to her 10.9 scoring average, she was second on Cloud County’s 2002 Region VI runner-up team in rebounding with a 5.9 average.
Then there were the literal headaches the former Salina Central High School standout caused. Once she pivoted hard into a Pratt Community College player, accidentally knocking her opponent out cold. So, how did an athlete playing the four position develop an all-around game? Tischhauser gives much of the credit to her Dad.
“He knew I was going to be tall, that I would be a post player, but he wanted me to be versatile.” When she was six-years-old, and even before she could shoot and hit the rim, Tischhauser’s Dad began drilling her in the basics of basketball, such as dribbling. “I had to put my hand underneath my nose and hold it horizontally so that I couldn’t see anything below and he made me run up the court dribbling and back.”
Now, with those early lessons well learned, CCCC opponents must again prepare for the variety of pain she can cause them. —Story by www.studentprofileservices.com Fall 2002
